Strengthening Tourism Partnership Between Bulgaria and Montenegro: Meeting Between the Montenegrin Ambassador and the Chairman of BATA

At the invitation of the Ambassador of Montenegro to Bulgaria, an official working meeting was held between His Excellency and the Chairman of the Bulgarian Association of Travel Agents (BATA), Mr. Odisey Spasov. The discussion took place in a highly constructive atmosphere and outlined broad opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism.

During the meeting, several key initiatives were discussed:

  • Launching a direct flight connection between Bulgaria and Montenegro, aimed at facilitating tourist exchange and creating new opportunities for travel and business partnerships.

  • Organizing bilateral info tours – for Bulgarian tour operators in Montenegro and for Montenegrin partners in Bulgaria, enabling both sides to better explore each country’s tourism products.

  • Holding presentations and professional forums, organized by BATA, with the participation of tour operators, the Montenegrin Association of Travel Agencies, and the Ministry of Tourism of Montenegro.

  • Organizing bilateral workshops – both in Bulgaria and Montenegro – focused on building new partnerships and expanding tourism programs.

  • Signing a bilateral memorandum of partnership, which will formalize cooperation between the tourism industries of both countries and lay the foundation for long-term strategic collaboration.

Additional opportunities for developing various types of tourism were also discussed, highlighting the strengths of each destination:

Bulgaria offers strong potential in:

  • cultural and historical tourism

  • balneo, SPA, and wellness tourism

  • winter sports and mountain tourism

  • wine and culinary routes

  • festival and event tourism

Montenegro stands out with:

  • seaside, yacht, and cruise tourism

  • adventure and mountain tourism

  • eco and nature-based tourism

  • luxury boutique resorts

  • national parks and protected natural areas

Both sides expressed confidence that these joint initiatives will contribute to increasing tourist flows, promoting lesser-known destinations, and strengthening the economic and cultural ties between Bulgaria and Montenegro.
